Lyon Secures European Ticket, Beating Brest in Ligue 1

Lyon have secured their place in the Europa League next season after defeating Brest 2-1 in their final match of the Ligue 1 campaign.

The result means that Lyon will face either Eintracht Frankfurt or Rapid Vienna in the first qualifying round of the competition, with the winner progressing to the second qualifying round.

"We're really happy with this victory," said coach Lucien Favre. "We knew it would be tough against Brest, but we were able to come out on top."

Favre praised his team's performance throughout the season, saying that they had shown great resilience and determination.

"I think we've done a good job of staying consistent throughout the season," he said. "We've played some fantastic football at times, but also faced some difficult matches as well."

The win over Brest was particularly important, as it ensured that Lyon would not be relegated from the top flight of French football.

"It's always a relief when you win," said captain Hugo Lloris. "But more importantly, it gives us a chance to play in Europe next year."

The win also means that Lyon can focus on preparing for their upcoming fixtures, rather than worrying about relegation.

"We still have a lot of games to play," said Favre. "But we'll take this win as motivation for the rest of the season."
